Platform transformation · AI-enabled engineering · Programme leadership

I turn bespoke codebases into modular platforms — and engineering teams into AI‑enabled organisations.

Deep-tech operator with a control engineering PhD, three founder-stage runs, and a CDO role building the assurance layer for the circular economy.

What I do

Five things, done hands-on — at CDO level, as programme lead or project manager, in-house or fractional.

AI transformation of engineering organisations

Introducing AI-agent-based development pipelines — architect, coder, tester, security reviewer — integrated into your existing toolchain, with the processes and quality gates to make it stick.

50 → 200+ story points per week with a three-person team

Platform modernisation

Transforming client-specific bespoke codebases into versatile, configurable, modular platforms — including cloud migration and infrastructure-as-code.

Client onboarding cut from weeks to days · infrastructure costs −50%

Structured programme & PMO leadership

Building project operating systems from scratch: requirements, RACI, risks, dashboards, and board-grade reporting — increasingly AI-augmented, from call transcript to work item.

Full PMO built from zero, feeding monthly CEO & board reporting

Project leadership & delivery

Taking projects from initiation to closure: scope, schedule, budget, stakeholder and risk management, with clear governance and steering-grade reporting — leading cross-organisational teams, also without formal authority.

15+ publicly funded projects acquired, in consortia of up to 12 partners across Europe

Digital leadership — CDO / CPO, also fractional

Owning the digital product end-to-end: translating market and regulatory requirements into a feature set, coordinating sales, engineering, and management.

Founder track record: scaled a deep-tech company from 3 to 25 across three countries

Track record

Twenty-five years across software engineering, founding, and digital leadership — consistently in deep-tech, regulated, and international environments.

  • 2024 – present

Chief Digital Officer — eco2Veritas Certification Ltd (UK)
Digital sustainability certification platform (AI, IoT, blockchain) for chain-of-custody tracking and EPR compliance. Led the transformation from bespoke code to a modular, AI-enabled product.

  • 2019 – 2024

    Managing Founder — ARXUM GmbH
Blockchain-based traceability for regulated manufacturing (GAMP5/pharma). Scaled 3 → 25 employees across Germany, Bulgaria, and France; led ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certifications; 8 publicly funded R&D projects including Horizon Europe.

  • 2015 – 2019

Head of R&D and Production IT — AREND Prozessautomation
Built the ARENDAR industrial-IoT security gateway (hardware/software co-design), which spun off as ARENDAR CyberSecurity GmbH.

  • 2010 – 2015

PhD & Postdoc — University of Luxembourg
Dr.-Ing. in electrical engineering, summa cum laude: Stability of Inverter-driven Island Grids. Built a 400 Vac island-grid laboratory; grant authoring and PhD supervision.

  • 1999 – 2010

Software engineer — Agilent Technologies, eGlutek, Software AG (Luxembourg)
From high-speed semiconductor test systems in a 150-person international team to system architect for the application used by the European institutions to construct the EU budget.

  • Since 2019 · ongoing

Lecturer — Trier University of Applied Sciences
Electrical engineering fundamentals, every summer semester.

Case studies

A selection of representative engagements. More detail in conversation.

From bespoke code to an AI-enabled platform

eco2Veritas · sustainability certification · 2024 – 2026

The platform served two clients with hard-coded, client-specific logic; every new client meant custom development. I defined and drove the full transformation: ML-based document recognition for automated evidence classification, a fully configurable product architecture, and a complete four-month platform rewrite using AI coding tools on new Azure infrastructure-as-code — built by a multi-agent development pipeline with full Azure DevOps integration.

  • Onboarding: weeks → days
  • Velocity: 50 → 200+ story points/week
  • Infrastructure costs −50%
  • One platform, multiple industries

An AI-augmented PMO, built from zero

eco2Veritas · programme governance · 2024 – 2026

No structured project management existed. I built a complete operating system in Azure DevOps — client engagements, product delivery, and business development as separate, linked projects — and used AI to extract requirements, RACI matrices, risks, and assumptions directly from client call transcripts, feeding dashboards and regular CEO/board reports.

  • 3 linked ADO projects
  • 27 epics · 100+ features · 250+ stories
  • Transcript → work item, AI-assisted
  • Board-grade visibility

Pivoting to product–market fit, then scaling to 25

ARXUM · blockchain for regulated manufacturing · 2019 – 2024

Funded for manufacturing, ARXUM found its real market in pharma, where GAMP5 makes full traceability mandatory. I co-directed the pivot, rebuilt the development process for GAMP5 compliance, and won a Swiss laboratory group as pilot client. In parallel I scaled the organisation from 3 to 25 people across Germany, Bulgaria, and France — including a fully remote, multi-country ISO 9001 certification.

  • GAMP5-compliant delivery pipeline
  • 3 → 25 people, 3 countries
  • ISO 9001 + ISO 27001
  • Clients in CH, FR, DE

A cyber-secure industrial IoT gateway, from concept to spin-off

AREND / ARENDAR · industrial cybersecurity · 2015 – 2019

Shop-floor PLCs were going online with virtually no protection. I led the hardware/software co-design of ARENDAR — three independently segmented network interfaces, TPM security module, bespoke I/O hardware — managing the development team to a production-ready device that became its own company.

  • Hardware/software co-design
  • Real OT-IT segmentation
  • Spin-off: ARENDAR CyberSecurity GmbH

About

Markus Jostock is a deep-tech operator with 25 years across software engineering, founding, and digital leadership. After a decade building mission-critical systems at Agilent and Software AG — including the system behind the EU budget application — he earned a Dr.-Ing. in electrical engineering (summa cum laude, University of Luxembourg).

He led R&D at AREND Prozessautomation, where his industrial-IoT security product spun off as ARENDAR CyberSecurity, then founded ARXUM, scaling a blockchain-for-pharma company from 3 to 25 people across three countries. As Chief Digital Officer at eco2Veritas, he led the transformation of a bespoke sustainability-certification platform into a modular, AI-enabled product — quadrupling development velocity through an AI-agent-based engineering pipeline and cutting infrastructure costs by half.

He lectures at Trier University of Applied Sciences and lives on the Moselle, where his family runs a wine estate.
